The Town of Edgewood has been chosen to receive technical assistance from the National Park Service’s (NPS) Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program. Marcy DeMillion, a Community Planner with the program, will work with community leaders in Edgewood to create a collaborative concept plan for the management and use of trails and open space for a 695 acre state land parcel and two BLM Recreation and Public Purpose leases. Together, the planning team will identify funding sources, schedule public meetings, work with stakeholders, and develop outreach strategies to involve community members in the planning and stewardship of trails and open space. The RTCA program is a two year commitment from the National Park Service. Municipalities and non-profits across the country are eligible to apply for RTCA in order to receive assistance planning parks and trails, improving access to and conserving rivers, protecting special places, and creating recreation opportunities.
